When it's all said and done--It's all Glamour
Modeling is:
…having every physical flaw broadcast in public forums like photo comments.
…knowing people all over the place have found and saved your images for their “personal” uses.
…dealing with men on Model Mayhem and other networks that are just there to pick up cute girls.
…eating Subway more meals a week that you can count.
…giving up self expression like piercing, tattoos, and extreme hairstyles or colors.
…still being nice to the girls who hate you arbitrarily.
…having your images stolen and used as some posers Myspace default picture.
…expecting stress in your relationships and jealous boyfriends.
…never being perfect.
…having a basic understanding of photography to know how you will look in this frame.
…waiting for the day your boss sees your photos and still taking them anyways.
…taking that risk to alienate family or friends.
…trusting the person on the other side of the camera to not make you look trashy.
…knowing a shoot isn’t 100 percent about YOU.
…having to justify your interest to other people.
…not expecting to be in love with every image you get returned to you.
…being secure enough to know you’re beautiful regardless of who says what in a given day.
…Remembering photographers are living egos and respecting that
…being called vain and shallow by people who don’t know you.
…trying not to express how much those shoes hurt.
…Sacrificing your personal wants and sometimes needs to “keep yourself up”
artificial nails, hair color, new clothing, etc.
…staying creative shoot to shoot.
…trying an idea even if it sounds ridiculous to you.
…not repeating clothes between photographers.
…staying peppy with your voters in internet contests even when you don’t want to.
…Spending every dime you MAKE modeling ON modeling.
…insisting people respect you even if they don’t like you.
…remembering not all models take it seriously and you can’t help the unwilling.
…contemplating Playboy to pay for college.
…hearing even from your mother you are not model material.
…being “ranked” by men and knowing your “place”
…tanning even though you’ll pay for it later.
…not pissing off “your people’s people”
…spamming your friends for that vote that may make or break your contest.
…understanding getting 2 great images is better than 12 or 22 mediocre images, it’s not about collecting.
…being ok if some other outside factor blows a TFP shoot.
…knowing people in the industry will turn their back on you who were once friends...and going on knowing they will smear your name
in secret.
